Jackdaw Removals Terms of Agreement

When you agree to use our services these terms of agreement will be supplied in hard copy and will be signed by you and I before we begin the procedure of arranging your move date.

1. Introduction

This document outlines the terms and conditions for the services provided by Jackdaw Removals. By engaging our services, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

2. Services Provided

Jackdaw Removals offers professional removal services, including packing and transportation of your belongings.

3. Payment Terms

All payments for services must be made in full upon completion of the removal process. Any additional charges incurred during the removal will be added to the final bill. A 40% deposit must be made 14 days prior to the move date.

4. Key Waiver Agreement

In the event that there is a delay in obtaining the keys to the new property, the following terms will apply:

  • If the wait for keys exceeds 3 hours, the client will be required to pay an additional fee.
  • This additional fee will be calculated at a rate of £15 per hour for each member of staff for every hour over the initial 3-hour waiting period.
  • The additional fee is to compensate the staff for their time and inconvenience.

5. Liability

Jackdaw Removals is fully insured up to the value of £50,000 for the unlikely event that damages occur during the move while items are within our care. Items will be delivered to the final destination in the same condition as they were when we picked them up.

Our insurance coverage includes:

  • Damage to items while in transit.
  • Damage to items while being handled by our staff.
  • Damage to property caused by our staff during the move.
  • Please note that our insurance does not cover items that are not packed by our staff unless it can be proven that the damage was caused by our handling.
  • Public liability insurance is in place in the event that a member of the public or yourselves are injured as a result of something we are responsible for.

6. Cancellation Policy

  • A 40% deposit of the total quote must be paid 14 days before the move date to secure the date and the staff required to carry out the move.
  • If you need to cancel or reschedule your removal, please call as soon as possible to let us know, if you cancel 7 days or less before the move date unfortunately your deposit will not be refundable due to the loss of earnings of staff at short notice.
  • 50% of your deposit will be refunded if you cancel your move with us 8 days or more, in advance of your move date.
  • If you have paid your deposit and need to cancel your move with us more than 14 days before your move date, we will refund 100% of your deposit.

7. Free Estimates

Free estimates will be carried out in person at the property you are moving from. This will be done by eye and ensures accuracy in judging how many boxes, if you require a packing service, how many vehicles required to move furniture, and how many staff required to carry out the move.

8. Packing Services

It will be your responsibility to ensure that your boxes are packed ready on the day of the move if you have not requested a packing service from us. We can supply boxes and all packing materials for you if you need them at an additional fee. Please let us know well in advance so we can deliver your boxes and wardrobe cartons to you before your move day. We can collect your used boxes from you when you are finished with them if you are within our reasonable local area, please call us to arrange this collection on the contact details below.

9. Customer Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all items are packed and ready for the move if you have not requested a packing service from us.
  • Inform us in advance if you require boxes and wardrobe cartons so we can deliver them to you well before your move day.
  • Provide accurate information during the free estimate to ensure we can allocate the correct number of staff and vehicles for your move.
  • Be present or have a representative present at the time of the move to provide access to the property and answer any questions our staff may have.

10. Confidentiality

Jackdaw Removals is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of all client information. We will not disclose any personal or sensitive information to third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law.

11. Dispute Resolution

In the event of any disputes arising from or in connection with this agreement, both parties agree to attempt to resolve the dispute through good faith negotiations. If the dispute cannot be resolved through negotiations, it will be referred to mediation. If mediation fails, the dispute will be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the jurisdiction in which Jackdaw Removals operates. Dispute resolutions must be reported within 28 days of your move date. After this period, the complaint will no longer be considered.

 

12. Disclaimer

Jackdaw Removals is not liable for the plumbing in of washing machines and dishwashers. This is not a service we provide. If you require this to be done for you, please be aware we do not take responsibility for any potential leaks and resulting damage caused by this service. Please check the connections for security before using your machinery.

13. Additional Services and Restrictions

  • Jackdaw Removals does not enter loft spaces unless they are fully boarded and have an adequate and fixed ladder. Please ensure you have removed your items from the loft if this is not the case.
  • Jackdaw Removals does not offer a picture hanging service, masonry work, or drilling holes.
  • We offer a dis-assembly and re-assembly service at an extra cost. This can include beds, wardrobes, other furniture, and trampolines. Please discuss this with your agent on the day of the estimate.
  • Any gas canisters, pressurized containers, or flammable items like methylated spirits are not covered by our insurance. These must be transported by yourself.

14. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Jackdaw Removals operates.
